National Physician Assistant Day

November 27 is National Physician Assistant Day in Canada. This commemorative day recognizes the Physician Assistant profession. CPSM sends our sincerest gratitude to the 136 Physician Assistants (PAs) practising in Manitoba. We also take this opportunity also to thank the over 100 Clinical Assistants in Manitoba.

Manitoba was the first province to introduce PAs into the public healthcare system. For 23 years, PAs have been a source of support to medical teams, making more positive outcomes possible.

PAs work in various settings and specialties with a supervising physician to help provide care to more patients. Some PAs see, assess, and treat patients; others assist in ER and surgeries. PAs reduce patient wait times and give physicians more time to treat patients with more critical needs.

Manitoba designed the first PA training program in Canada, outside of the Canadian Armed Forces.

PAs work tirelessly alongside physicians to ensure quality care, demonstrating commitment and compassion with every patient encounter.

The medical profession thanks PAs for being with us on the front lines of care. Your compassion and commitment to patient safety do not go unnoticed.

We invite all physicians, healthcare professionals, and the public to join us in acknowledging and thanking Physician Assistants for their unwavering dedication to improving the health of Manitobans.
